Managing Import Templates

This article describes how to create and manage import templates in the Ramp Print application to control how data is mapped when importing from external files.

Overview

Import templates define how CSV data columns map to properties used by the Ramp Print system. Templates allow data from different third-party exports to be imported with consistent structure and accuracy.

Prerequisites

  • Installed Ramp Print application

  • Logged in on a device connected to the RFID printer

  • Source CSV file available for import

Procedure

Accessing Import Template Settings

  1. Open the Ramp Print application.

  2. Select the Settings menu located in the top right of the screen.

  3. Navigate to CSV Import Mapping.

Editing or Removing an Existing Template

  1. To modify an existing template, select Edit Template.
  2. To remove a template, select Delete Template.

Creating a New Import Template

  1. Select Add Import Template.

  2. In the mapping interface, choose the Column Mapping Type:
    1. Column Index — Use the numeric index of each column.

    2. Column Name — Use the header text from the first row of the CSV file.

  3. Select the Printing Type for the template:

    1. Direct from file — Prints data directly from the CSV.

    2. SKU tags from file — Uses SKUs in the CSV to lookup matching records in Ramp.

  4. Optionally enable Passthrough all fields to assign all columns to the passthrough mapping method.
  5. For each column, configure:
    1. Mapping Column — Reference by index or column name.

    2. Mapping For — Select one of:

      • Passthrough — Direct transfer from the CSV column to Ramp Print storage.

      • Lookup — Search for the CSV value in the Ramp database (e.g., SKU or barcode).

      • Quantity — Specifies the quantity of labels to be printed.

    3. Lookup Property — The destination property name used internally by Ramp Print; this must match Ramp’s property naming exactly (e.g., use SkuNumber, not variations such as Sku number or SKU_Number).

  6. After mapping all relevant columns, select Save Import Template.

Usage

Once saved, the import template is available for use when printing from a file. Templates can be selected at the time of import to apply consistent column mapping rules.
